Troubleshooting
This information is formatted for printing in the downloadable document on the Teacher Instructions page.
We have worked and tested extensively to eliminate problems beforehand. However, technology often surprises us with new and unexpected issues. The following are “best practice” solutions, should you encounter a widespread problem:
- Incorrect Display: Try a different browser. Chrome is preferred; Firefox, Safari and Edge are alternatives.
- Code Errors: (Student: “It’s saying my code isn’t working”) We chose a font with very distinct letters and numbers, so that there would be no trouble distinguishing the characters. However, students’ handwriting isn’t usually so distinctive. If a student tells you their code isn’t working, either have them identify and test any “look-alikes” in their code, or, since the code is at the very beginning of the survey, have them close their browser, restart, and get a new code.
Look-alikes:
| 0 | o |
| 1 | l |
| 2 | z |
| 5 | s |
| 8 | b |
| p | q |
| v | u |
| a | d |
